Amanda Dorough | The Beautiful Journey

About Me

Well hello there and welcome to my little corner of the internet!  My name is Amanda and I’m so happy you’re here.

So you wanna know more about me huh?

Well lets start form the beginning.  I was born on a hot summer morning….

Oh you don’t want to know that much, ok, lets get at the gist of it then.

Amanda Jane

I’m a Pacific Northwest girl born and raised, and I hold firm to the belief that on a sunny day Seattle is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. However, as much as I love Seattle most of the last 10 years has been spent away from home, both in other parts of the US and abroad.  I’ve had the lucky opportunity in my short life thus far to have traveled to 36 countries on 5 continents.  I’ve seen both beautiful sites and heart wrenching poverty and it’s changed not only my world view, but my perspective on life.

Aside from my incurable travel bug I’m also a bit of a homebody (And it’s tough!  I rotate between wanting to backpack around the world forever to wanting to just get a little place to decorate real cute and sit on my porch sipping hot chocolate).  When I’m not traveling you can usually find me combing local thrift stores for incredible finds and DIYing my life away.  I can’t imagine a life without creativity and I especially love finding unique ways to decorate and save a little money.

When I created this blog it was originally called Blueskies & Blueprints and was meant to follow my adventures as I volunteered in Bolivia.  Now, safely back on American soil (for more than 3 years now! A record!) the blog has morphed into The Beautiful Journey, a place to share about the things that are important to me.  There is no rhyme or reason to what I write about, just what I love, and I think my title statement sums it all up perfectly…

Love Travel.  Love Creativity.  Love Life.

So thanks again for stopping by,  I hope you enjoy what you find and feel free to contact me with any questions!

  2. Hey! My name is Joshlynn! I stumbled across your blog looking up information on KPC And it’s pretty amazing!! You have been so many places. I am working on transferring to KPC for the fall semester from a school in Southwest Louisiana. Could you give me any tips on the drive and what to bring and what not to bring? Have a great day!
